What’s New in Imaging and Sequencing
Presented by Tim Moran, Director Product Management, BIOVIA

This webinar will cover enhancements in the 9.2 release of BIOVIA Foundation (formerly Accelrys Enterprise Platform) and Pipeline Pilot for Imaging and Sequencing Collections.

In Imaging, development has been focused in two broad areas. First, machine learning. We added several advanced feature detectors. Those features can be made available in the Image annotator, another mini application we have continued to improve. The image annotator enables supervised learning (think of it like tagging in Facebook). There has also been quite a bit of development in supporting assay analysis and management. We developed a prototype High Content Screening Workbench and integrated with the leading tools in preclinical imaging to support both on-premises and cloud based deployments.

Numerous improvements have also been made on the Next Generation and Sequence Analysis Collections for the Pipeline Pilot 9.2 release. We continue to enhance performance for jobs run locally as well as in HPC environments. We will also introduce the NGS workbench prototype. The workbench guides users in a friendly web interface and is easily customizable as it runs in WebPort.

Chemistry Harmonization with Accelrys Pipeline Pilot 9.0
Keith Taylor, Advisory Product Manager, Accelrys
Recommended for Pipeline Pilot Chemistry, Accelrys Direct and Accelrys Draw users.

Pipeline Pilot Chemistry 9.0 is inheriting many new chemical representations from the Accelrys Direct data model. These include the support of the Self Contained Sequence Representation (SCSR) biologics, enhanced Markush structure representations, Markush homology groups, and Non Specific Structures (NONS). Also significantly enhanced is the support for Sgroups, in particular for polymers, mixtures, and formulations. Further, Pipeline Pilot depiction has been upgraded to support these enhancements and the stereochemical perception and ring perception capabilities were improved based on Direct.

The major benefit of these changes is that Direct and Pipeline Pilot now use the same data model. Searches carried out in Direct or in Pipeline Pilot will return identical results and both products will deliver identical structural perceptions. This webinar will give guidance on how these changes will impact your calculators and models and how you can plan for a smooth upgrade.

Image Management and Analysis for Translational Research: Making Informed Decisions Faster
Tim Moran, Director, Imaging Development, Accelrys
Deiva Ramachandran, Associate Partner, Global Business Services, IBM

Life sciences organizations increasingly rely on translational research to more rapidly verify the safety and efficacy of drug candidates. A critical component in the advancement of translational research is the integration of clinical and pre-clinical data for the development of companion diagnostics and imaging biomarkers. The management of clinical and pre-clinical data is often highly manual, labor intensive and error prone. The disparate applications, image formats, and silos of information create challenges for research organizations and their partners.

In this webinar, Accelrys and IBM will discuss their unique solution for translational image informatics that dramatically streamlines the conventional process for how images, data and analysis are delivered, processed and shared throughout the life cycle of a study. The solution from IBM and Accelrys enables complete image management and analysis for clinical and pre-clinical research. It empowers scientists to apply clinical insight to research activities more rapidly, at lower costs and with increased quality.

Steven Rieth, Manager, Lab Workflow & Automation and Bob Daoust, Business Analyst for World Wide Safety Strategy Business Technology, Pfizer

Clinical studies in Oracle Clinical differ wildly. Each study has its own schema and each schema differs from others – the names of the reporting views and the column names are not consistent thus are not consistent between studies. As a result, it is not possible to build a single visualization solution that can be applied directly to all the studies in Oracle Clinical. This webinar will cover how the team at Pfizer used Pipeline Pilot to standardize the trial data to support their need for a single and consistent visualization.

Secrets to Ensuring Accurate and Compliant Chemical Inventory Reports
Anne Sefried, Sr. Technical Specialist/Inventory Consultant , ChemSW

From lubricants to solvents, from flammable materials to corrosives, many organizations handle and store a number of different chemicals. It’s not enough to ensure that you know where chemicals are, provide training and information about correct handling procedures, and ensure that chemicals are stored and disposed appropriately. It is also important to report to external agencies what chemicals are on site, the quantities of those chemicals, and how and where they are stored. The stakes are higher if those chemicals are hazardous materials.

One critical challenge for many organizations is the gap between the laboratory that uses the chemicals, and the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) department that must produce accurate chemical inventory reports. Unfortunately, disconnected, inconsistent, and inefficient chemical inventory management processes are not only inhibiting report accuracy but also incurring higher risk. This webinar examines the obstacles organizations face ensuring chemical management and reporting compliance, and discusses how different organizations have closed the gap to solve the compliance challenge.
