Benoît Grellier, Bioinformatician,Transgene
Presentation Title: In Silico Epitope Mapping of the Human CD115 Monoclonal Antibody H27K15: from Computer Models to a New Transgenic Mouse Model

Biography: Since 2006, Benoit Grellier has been in charge of bioinformatics in the R&D Department in Transgene SA, Illkirch-Graffenstaden, France. He holds a MS in Functional Genome Analysis from the University of Toulouse, France. His activities in Transgene cover many topics of the field, from molecular modeling to analyses of “omics” data, including Next Generation Sequencing.

Bojana Popovic, Senior Research Scientist, MedImmune
Presentation Title: Antibody Engineering Beyond Affinity Alone

Biography: Bojana is Senior Scientist within the Department of Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering in MedImmune, global biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca

Bojana joined MedImmune Ltd, Cambridge, UK in 2007 as structural biologist. Her current role focuses on rational structure based antibody design and with her team she is responsible for computational structural biology support of projects. After completing undergraduate degree from University of Edinburgh in 2001, she joined the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge where she completed her PhD in crystallography and structural bioinformatics.

She has played a central role in setting up a structural bioinformatics capability within MedImmune Ltd where she continues to support the growing pipeline of biologics projects.

Francine Acher, Research Director, CNRS
Presentation Title: Molecular Determinants of Agonist Selectivity in Glutamate-Gated Chloride Channels

Biography: Francine Acher is a CNRS research director at UMR 8601 leading a research group of 8 members (research scientists, technician, postdoc and PhD students) and is head of UMR 8601 (8 research groups).
All through her carrier F. Acher has been involved in the design and synthesis of non-natural amino acids and the investigation of their roles in various biological systems mostly in the CNS. She developed a specific expertise in molecular modeling in close interaction with biology allowing her major achievements in receptor activation mechanism and virtual high throughput screening. Her interdisciplinary research was made possible by close interaction with collaborators in different fields such as pharmacology, molecular biology and behavior. She has published 102 articles in peer reviewed journals (h-index 26) and filed 10 international patents.


Thierry Convard , Head of Molecular Modeling Senior, IDENIX Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Presentation Title: Molecular dynamic simulations: helping to understand loss of nucleotides activity in HCV polymerase

Biography: Thierry Convard is Head of Molecular Modeling Senior at IDENIX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the discovery and development of drugs for the treatment of human viral diseases He is working on Nucleosidic and non nucleosidic antiviral series using different molecular modelling techniques from pharmacophore to protein modelling and molecular dynamics simulations.

Rob Brown

Rob Brown, Senior Director of Life Sciences Marketing, Accelrys
Presentation title: Accelrys Informatics Strategy and Roadmap

Biography: Rob Brown is Senior Director of Life Sciences Marketing at Accelrys. In this role he is responsible for the cheminformatics, bioinformatics and modelling and simulation products for the Life Sciences industries. He has been with Accelrys, MSI and SciTegic for 16 years involved in the product direction of the Pipeline Pilot and Informatics product lines Prior to MSI, Rob was a member of the Computer Aided Molecular Design group at Abbott Laboratories. Rob received his PhD in Cheminformatics from the University of Sheffield, UK under the direction of Prof Peter Willett.

Arnaud Boizard

Arnaud Boizard, IS Service Leader, Sanofi
Presentation Title: SHERPA - A Sanofi R&D Service to Support Drug Discovery Data Exchange with External Partners

Biography: Arnaud is a Service Leader at Sanofi R&D, Paris. He has more than 20 years of Research and Development experience in the Information Solutions department of Sanofi. During the last seven years, he was in charge of a data synchronization solution - Enterprise Service Bus - between several key Research foundation systems. In 2011, he was also involved in the deployment and functional support of a Chemistry electronic Notebook. He joined recently the SHERPA team dedicated to the collaboration data exchange support, as Service Leader.

Luc Spitzer

Luc Spitzer, IT Data Manager, Inventiva
Presentation Title: Gemsight – Integration of Accelrys Insight into Inventiva

Biography: Luc Spitzer holds a MSc in applied informatics, specialized in life science (University of Strasbourg, 2005). He was hired as molecular modeler at Fournier, France and held after that similar positions at Solvay and Abbott, contributing to multiple projects, of which 5 pre-clinical compounds. After Inventiva took over Fournier’s research center in Dijon, he became responsible for data management, scientific applications, scientific reporting and integration.
